The research employs three approaches, namely the non-traditional security concept, security cooperation concept, and bilateral cooperation concept, to analyze the collaborative efforts in tackling the issues of asylum seekers and people smuggling. The research methodology employed in this study involves the utilization of qualitative descriptive analysis. The findings of this research indicate that the issues of asylum seekers and people smuggling have become significant challenges faced by the governments of Indonesia and Australia. Recognizing the limitations of a single country's ability to resolve these issues, cooperation between the two nations has become crucial.

Keywords: Cooperation, Indonesia – Australia, Asylum seekers, People smuggling

Alif Afdhol Imani, Mansur Juned, Sindy Yulia Putri Copyright (c) 2025 Moestopo Journal of International Relations https://www.ejournal.moestopo.ac.id/index.php/mjir/article/view/3162 Wed, 01 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0000 PERAN INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS (ICRC) DALAM MENANGANI PANDEMI COVID-19 DI YAMAN https://www.ejournal.moestopo.ac.id/index.php/mjir/article/view/3177
ABSTRACT

Yemen is a country with a weak health care system, very vulnerable to exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic. Realizing this, assistance from other parties is needed to overcome these problems. The ICRC as an international non-governmental organization (INGO) has an interest in helping deal with the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Yemen. By using the concepts of human security and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as role theory, this study attempts to analyze the ICRC’s role in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in Yemen. Qualitative-descriptive approach is the method used by the author in this study. Based on the research that has been done, several roles were found by the International Committee of the Red Cross during the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Yemen. Firstly, as implementer, the ICRC plays a role in mobilizing resources by providing the goods and services needed during the COVID-19 pandemic in Yemen. Second, as a catalyst, the ICRC plays a role in advocating for the wider community through campaign activities and dissemination of information on the prevention of COVID-19. As a partner, the ICRC is working closely with the Authorities in Yemen, as well as the Yemen Red Crescent and other organizations in dealing with the pandemic. This extension has significantly intensified restrictions on the activities of the LGBT community within the country. This study aims to analyze the social impact of the 2022 extension of the Gay Propaganda Law, both in public life and in digital spaces. The findings were obtained using qualitative methods, including content analysis of credible Russian news sources and a literature review of peer-reviewed academic journals published between 2015 and 2025. The results indicate that the extension of the law has had a substantial negative impact on the LGBT community, leading to increased marginalization, a heightened sense of threat due to legal constraints, and limited opportunities for expression, both on social media and in broader society. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the consequences of anti-LGBT legislation and may serve as a reference for future research on social and political developments related to LGBT issues in Russia Sabrina Rafika Aysiwi, Gonda Yumitro Copyright (c) 2025 Moestopo Journal of International Relations https://www.ejournal.moestopo.ac.id/index.php/mjir/article/view/5461 Wed, 01 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Upaya Indonesia Youth Foundation (IYF) Dalam Diplomasi Publik Indonesia Melalui Indonesian Language Learning Program Tahun 2020-2023 https://www.ejournal.moestopo.ac.id/index.php/mjir/article/view/5996
Bahasa merupakan alat diplomasi publik yang efektif memperkenalkan identitas suatu bangsa. As a continuation of the previous MIDEC under the Indonesia–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA), the program aims to enhance the competitiveness of the national automotive sector through human resource development, technology transfer, and industrial strengthening. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through document analysis and in-depth interviews with officials from the Ministry of Industry. The findings reveal that New MIDEC has made a significant contribution to human resource capacity building, particularly through modular training and the empowerment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Nevertheless, its implementation continues to face challenges, including technological gaps and limited adoption of advanced technologies by domestic industries. Accordingly, this study recommends strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration and optimizing technology transfer to ensure that New MIDEC delivers greater benefits for the development and global competitiveness of Indonesia’s automotive industry.

Keywords: New MIDEC, IJEPA, Capacity Building, Automotive Industry

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini menganalisis kerja sama Indonesia–Jepang melalui program New Manufacturing Industry Development Center (New MIDEC) dalam upaya penguatan kapasitas industri otomotif Indonesia pada periode 2019–2024.
